A Tale of 2 Travelers

An overview of our adventures near and far…

Travel

While I’m not that big a fan of packing, I do LOVE our travels! However, the struggle is VERY real when it comes to how many bags we should put in the car. However, my motto is and always will be I’d rather be overpacked than run out of clean clothes to wear. Yes, I know most hotels have laundry available for guest use, but who wants to have to do laundry when you could be out exploring or laying by the pool instead? Especially when there are so many great places to be discovered. So what are we waiting for…..let’s get adventuring!

Orlando, Florida

As Florida Residents, we have decided to dedicate this year’s theme park travel to Universal and SeaWorld. We are both annual passholders at Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure. At SeaWorld, I get in for free thanks to my Teacher Study Pass (thank you SeaWorld for this amazing program!) and Jeremy has an annual pass. We bought our Universal passes at a time with they had a promo to get an additional 6 months free. Once these passes expire, our plan is to alternate to Disney World passes for the following year. Since we love visiting Orlando so often, we will be creating a separate page for that to provide you with our best advice for a fun-filled weekend.

Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure

Jeremy is a HUGE Harry Potter fan and loves visiting The Wizarding World. We are as giddy as if we just downed a glass of giggle juice about the opening of the new ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventures opening on June 13, 2019! I will admit there are some rides that I get spooked on enough to keep my eyes closed through most of the ride. But as the good sport of a wife that I am, I will always accompany Jeremy on any ride he wants to go on. Our next visit will be over Memorial Day weekend.

SeaWorld

We enjoyed another great year of the Seven Seas Food Festival at SeaWorld. This is an annual festival hosted for about a month in the spring throughout the park Fridays-Sundays. We highly recommend purchasing a sampling lanyard to get the best value of all that the food festival has to offer. The samples are a little smaller than the stand alone purchased items, but I like that because it saves room for me to get to sample EVERYTHING (that my stomach can handle). In addition to great food they bring in musical performing artists from all genres. We will be heading back to SeaWorld over Memorial Day weekend.

Atlantis Resort – The Bahamas

View from our balcony at The Reef at Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas – for our honeymoon.

Since both of us enjoy the beach so much, we decided on Atlantis for our honeymoon destination. We stayed 7 nights at The Reef and spent a lot of time at the beach and the pool. We swam around the small reefs of the shallows and were able to see a variety of fish. We even got to see a stingray and an eel that swam by to give us a morning greeting. Our “Snorkel the Ruins” excursion was great because we got to swim with Coco, the largest Manta Ray I’ve ever seen. I have a fascination/obsession with rays. I don’t really know why, but I just love getting to have encounters with them! Throughout the rest of our days we visited the casino, enjoyed two free movies, went out on an open ocean snorkel tour, and ate lots of really good food.
